Katherina Manolessou        
   
Katherina Manolessou is a London-based illustrator, printmaker and lecturer. She grew up in Greece where she studied Chemistry. In 1995 she moved to London to work as a 2D animator and has lived there ever since. She went on to study Illustration at Kingston University and Communication Art and Design at the Royal College of Art. In 2011 Katherina successfully completed her practice-based PhD on animal characterisation in children’s picturebooks at Anglia Ruskin University (supervisors: Martin Salisbury and Morag Styles).

Zoom Zoom Zoom was Katherina’s first published children’s book and was developed as part of her doctoral research. Since its publication, her children’s books have been co-editioned in 16 different countries. Katherina's work includes commercial illustration commissions, as well as personal projects such as artist’s books and limited edition prints. Since 2003 Katherina has worked as a university lecturer in Illustration, on the BA Illustration at the University of Westminster and the BA Illustration at Camberwell College of Arts. She is currently senior lecturer on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, leading the major project on the MA and supervising PhD students.
